One of my son’s favorite foods is Pizza. When he has his friends over this is what we like to make. The kids like to make their own creations, it is filling (hard to achieve with teenagers who are bottomless pits when it comes to food) and inexpensive to make. So I thought that I would share this recipe so that you can have pizza night in your home.
|2 Tablespoons of yeast||2 Cups warm water|
|5 Cups flour||1 1/2 teaspoons salt|
|1/2 teaspoon sugar||4 Tablespoons of vegetable oil|
Heat your oven to 450 degrees. In a mixing bowl add your yeast, warm water and sugar. Let this sit for a few minutes. Then add the remaining ingredients and mix. I like to let it mix with a dough hook for about 5 minutes. Cover your mixing bowl with a towel and let your dough rise until it has doubled in size. This can take anywhere from 30-60 minutes. While your dough is rising, lightly spray your cookie or pizza pans with non-stick cooking spray. When dough is finished rising punch your dough down (great way to vent). Then divide into 2 balls of dough and spread with your hands onto prepared sheets. This takes just a little patience because the dough likes to spring back. Once your dough is spread onto your pans then the creating starts. I like to open a jar of our favorite spaghetti sauce and spread that over the dough. Then add mozzarella and any toppings that you desire. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
I have to give credit to my friend John who gave me this great pizza dough recipe. I have tried other pizza dough recipes in the past and they never seem to cook all the way through. This is my fail safe pizza dough, it is always done in the middle.
Have fun creating your own pizzas!
