Book Review – Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Gone GirlOver the summer I took a quick, unexpected trip by myself.  I was on an airplane for TWO uninterrupted, glorious hours on each flight.  This was my opportunity to immerse myself in a pull-you-in-don’t-want-to-put-it-down book.  So I did my research – I went to five different websites and checked their ‘book lists’ and this book was on every list.  It did NOT disappoint! The story goes something like this:

On Nick and Amy’s fifth anniversary, Amy disappears. The front door is left open, things are mysteriously upturned and she’s nowhere to be found.  What is found is her diary and from there the story unfolds.  But don’t be confused, this is no ordinary suspense/mystery novel.  There are a couple of twists you just don’t see coming, taking the book in entirely different directions.

Beware, I’ve recommended this book to friends and I’ve had more than one call me to say they were up until the wee hours finishing it, or they took a ‘long lunch’ to finish it because they couldn’t stop thinking about it.

This book makes you wonder … do you really know the people you love?

Let me know what you think!
